Why do we play online games in Kuwait?

These are real people playing WoW (World of Warcraft)

I'm going to start with listing the different types of online games in case you don't have an idea about them, and they are as follow:
1.      Massively multiplayer online games (MMO)
2.      First person shooters. (FPS)
3.      Action and adventure games.
4.      Strategy Games.
5.      Cross-platform online play.
6.      Massive multiplayer online role playing games (MMORPG)

As when it comes to why people play online games in Kuwait, There are many different reasons

Having Fun

Playing with your friends or in some cases challenging your friends, wasting your free time and it can be a source of entertainment. Moreover, if you haven't experienced playing  a popular online games with your friends like World of Warcraft you are missing a great experience that could be both challenging and fun, imagine you competing with your friends over who kills the other character first or who has the highest rating on the arena ladder etc.

Waste of Time

Some people think that playing online games is a waste of time and has no benefits, these people might be wrong since in my opinion I think that the ups outweigh the downs when it comes to online games. Furthermore, it's true that these online games can be really addictive and might end up wasting your time but one can look on the bright side, by taking things with moderation it could be more beneficial to you like in our case the online games, you would be having fun with your friends and competing with them, wasting your free time if you have nothing better to do and entertaining yourself all at the same time.  At the end if you haven't played Guild Wars 2 then you don't know what I'm talking about. What have we gained from online games?

Meeting new people by playing an online game

Many people believe that online games are a waste of time and couldn't benefit you in any way, this article is hopefully going to show people what have we gained from online games and how did it benefit us.
Playing online games can be useful due to the following reasons:

Improving your English

Since most online games are produced in English with quests, names and items etc. People can really improve their English skills by playing  an online game, since most probably they will be communicating with English speakers in the game.

Meeting new people

By playing an online game you can meet different people from different areas around the world, you might have something in common with those people like for example, since I'm a fan of soccer, I've met a guy who is also a fan of soccer while playing an online game and we talked about our favorite team for hours and communicated through E-mail.

Learning about other people's cultures

Many people don't know about other people's cultures so by playing an online game you could know about their culture. For example, I had one of my friends tell me that he knew about "Halloween" from an online game since they celebrated it on the game, so by playing an online game you could know about other people's cultures.

A source of entertainment

You have been studying all day and you called your friends and they do not want to go out, you could easily log in your account and play with people that you know and people you don't know to entertain yourself  for a couple of hours.

In the end, I have created this survey to help me know more about the readers of my blog, how often do they play online games, what kind of games do they play, what makes them play online games and what would they like to see in the upcoming online games. Furthermore by participating in this survey you will help me get a brief idea about my readers and which content should I focus more on. Please click this survey link.

How To Manage Your Online Gaming Addiction

Online Games Addiction Could Be Serious! It's Not Too Late.

Hello guys, here is an article that I found on Uproxx to help you manage your online gaming addiction. The article was written by Andre Infante and it was published on  02/23/2010 I hope you like it.

Welcome to the world of the functioning addict.  You have a job, friends, maybe even a girlfriend, but you spend more time in games like World of Warcraft and Eve Online than you’d like, and you want to cut back.  Here are a few simple tips to make it easier.
1)  Quit your guild.
One of the tricks online games employ to keep you coming back is the guild (or corporation, depending on the game).  A guild provides friends, a community, and a sense of duty.  If people are relying on you, you’ll sink hour after hour in the game to fulfill your responsibilities.
2) Change how you play.
Every aspect of online games are engineered to draw you in.  The vast worlds, the hundreds of quests to perform, the Chinese dwarves spamming gold in broken English.  Okay, well, not that last part.
3) Find something else to do with your time.
Whenever someone discards or cuts down on a hobby, it leaves large stretches of empty time in their life.  These stretches are dangerous, as they can easily end with you sitting at home in front of the computer, bored senseless.  Under these circumstances, it’s likely your willpower won’t hold out, and you’ll be back to your old levels of activity within a week. Given this, it makes sense to try to find a new hobby.  Ideally, it should be something that interests you, and something that involves spending time with other people.   Exposure to direct sunlight and girls are also good.  The graphics are better outside anyway.
4) Stop reading the magazines and websites
There are hundreds of websites, magazines, an feeds devoted to any game.  If you found this article helpful, you probably read most of them.  Stop.  This is the equivalent of a recovering Vicodin addict buying a crate of tic-tacs.
5) Find other forms of entertainment
Odds are, you got into the game because you like high fantasy.  Or space operas. Or gritty neo-noir.  Or Asian people with implausible hair.  Whatever.  The point is, there’s nothing wrong with any of those things.
